Geoffrey Blair

Geoffrey Blair first entered an operating room in 1957 making his father promise that it would also be his last time. He released his father from that promise after wielding a surgical needle driver for the first time in 1971. This was the start of his love affair with Surgery and his education in that scientific art.

Dr. Blair has practised for decades as a paediatric and general surgeon in Vancouver, becoming the Surgeon-in-Chief at British Columbia Children’s Hospital and President of the Canadian Association of Paediatric Surgeons.

As an exuberant teacher to hundreds of medical students and surgical trainees he has received many local, provincial, national and international awards for his teaching.  Teaching continues to give him joy.
