The Honourable John I. Laskin has spent his entire professional life in the law, first as an advocate and then as a judge on the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
Through many published articles and the teaching of appellate advocacy and decision writing across Canada and internationally, he has helped lawyers, judges, and members of administrative tribunals unlock the power of clear, persuasive, and accessible oral and written communication.
He has written this biography to be published by Sutherland House Experts, out of a love of language he shared with his father and a desire to give a full account of his father’s contributions to the legal profession and Canadian society.
He is also co-authoring a book on written advocacy, which will be published in 2026.
