Judith Shamian
Often referred to as “Canada’s nurse” and “the world’s nurse,” Judith Shamian, RN, PhD, LLD (hon), D.Sc. (hon), FAAN, FCNA, is a globally renowned nurse leader, educator, and advocate with over 40 years of experience in healthcare.
She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University and has held significant leadership positions, including President of the International Council of Nurses and CEO of VON Canada.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Canadian Academy of Nursing, Dr. Shamian has been recognized globally for her contributions to nursing leadership, policy, and research, earning multiple honorary doctorates and prestigious awards such as the Nell J. Watts Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr. Shamian is currently working on her upcoming book, which will share her insights on leadership, and empowering the next generation of global health leaders.
